JUST IN: Fubara Returns to Port Harcourt After Germany Trip

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, is back in Port Harcourt following a two-week trip abroad.

He arrived at the Port Harcourt International Airport in Omagwa on Friday evening around 7 PM. A video trending online shows some of his aides receiving him at the airport before he was driven away in a black SUV.

Although his official destination was Germany, reports suggest that Governor Fubara also had a private meeting with President Bola Tinubu in London during his time away.

His return comes amid political unrest in the state. President Tinubu recently suspended Fubara, his deputy Prof. Ngozi Odu, and members of the State House of Assembly.

The action followed attacks on oil facilities by armed groups amid tensions between the Governor and 27 lawmakers, with the crisis reportedly linked to Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike.
