Jigawa Commissioner reacts to arrest by Hisbah over alleged adultery

The Jigawa state Commissioner for Special Duties, Auwalu Danlladi Sankara, who is at the centre of alleged illicit sexual affairs has denied the accusation, describing it as a political witchhunt by his unnamed political enemies.

While the state government has yet to make any official comment on the matter, the embattled commissioner in a statement he signed on Friday night, refuted the allegation which he had no iota of truth, saying it was concocted by unnamed political elements to tarnish his image.

It would be recalled that the news of the alleged illicit sexual affairs by the commissioner with a married woman under suspicious circumstances by operatives of Hisbah in Kano went viral across various news platforms on Friday.

The arrest was said to have been prompted by a complaint from Nasiru Bulama, the woman’s husband, who accused Sankara of engaging in an affair with his wife, Tasleem Baba Nabegu, the mother of his two children.

The Director-General of the Kano State Hisbah Board, Alhaji Abba Saidu Sufi, has confirmed the arrest of Sankara

“Yes, I can confirm that Sankara was arrested at a hidden location along Lamido Crescent Road. He is now at Kurmawa prison. It is an unfortunate incident,” Sufi stated.

Sankara said:- “My attention has been drawn to a recent media report alleging that I, Auwal D. Sankara, Commissioner for Special Duties in the Jigawa State Government, have been arrested by the Kano Hisbah Command on charges of having an affair with a married woman.

“I wish to categorically state that these allegations are entirely false, baseless, and malicious, aimed at tarnishing my reputation. I urge the general public to disregard this fabricated story, which has been concocted by certain political elements to damage my character and integrity.

“As a married man, I have the utmost respect for the institution of marriage and would never engage in actions that violate its sanctity. I remain committed to upholding the values and principles that I stand for.

“I am taking this matter seriously and will pursue legal action against those responsible for spreading this false information and attempting to cause harm to my person”.

Sankara is a scion of a prominent political figure in Jigawa Sen. Danlladi, Sankara, who was the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Information and National Orientation in the Ninth Assembly.
