Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have neutralised seven suspected Boko Haram insurgents in a successful ambush along Mayanti Road in Dar El-Jamal, Borno State.
Military sources confirmed to counter-insurgency expert, Zagazola Makama, that the operation took place on Tuesday evening, resulting in the recovery of several bicycles and logistical items used by the terrorists.
However, in what appeared to be a retaliatory move, suspected Boko Haram fighters launched an attack later that night—around 7:30 p.m.—on the resettled community of Dar El-Jamal, firing sporadically to instill panic.
Their assault was met with swift and coordinated resistance from a joint team of troops, members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), and local hunters, who engaged the attackers in a firefight and successfully repelled the onslaught, forcing the insurgents to flee in disarray.
Security forces have since intensified surveillance in the area to prevent further incursions and ensure the safety of the local population.
