The Royal Thailand Embassy in Abuja has announced a new e-visa application process for Nigerian nationals seeking to travel to Thailand. This move means that physical applications will no longer be accepted, and all applicants must apply online.
According to Peoples Gazette, this change applies not only to Nigeria but also to other African nations, including Ghana, Cameroon, Benin Republic, Congo, Central African Republic, Equatorial Guinea, São Tomé and Príncipe, and Chad.
The embassy clarified that applicants must be residents of the listed countries at the time of their application. Failure to provide proof of residence in these countries will result in the cancellation of the visa application.
When applying, applicants must submit a travel booking confirmation, which includes return flight details showing the applicant’s name, departure and return dates, and flight details from the applicant’s country to Thailand. The embassy stated that visa processing typically takes up to five working days, although processing times may vary in some cases.
Applicants are advised to submit their applications between four to six weeks before their intended travel date, but no earlier than three months before departure.
The embassy also noted that visa fees are non-refundable, regardless of the application’s outcome, and processing fees may change without prior notice.
Furthermore, the embassy reserves the right to request additional documents, conduct in-person interviews in Abuja, change visa categories if necessary, or reject applications without explanation.
The embassy reminded applicants to provide accurate and truthful information, warning that any fraudulent or false documents will lead to legal consequences.
