The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has picked May 15 to carry out a detailed review of the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
This decision comes after several complaints from candidates and other concerned individuals over irregularities in the exam results.
JAMB sent out invitations to various education experts and institutions to join the review panel.
Among those invited is education consultant Alex Onyi, who will work alongside other professionals to look into how the examination was conducted.
The team is expected to find any problems that may have occurred and offer solutions to prevent them from happening again.
Members of the panel include officials from the All Nigeria Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools (ANCOPSS), the National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools, and chief external examiners.
Also involved are representatives from the Computer Professionals Association of Nigeria, the Educational Assessment and Research Network, and leaders of universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education.
The panel will be working without any cost to JAMB, which says it is doing everything possible to protect the integrity of its exam process.
The board is facing pressure after publishing results that showed over 78 percent of candidates scored below 200 out of 400.
This led to over 8,000 petitions from students who blamed technical issues during the test.
Despite defending the results, JAMB has begun working with stakeholders in the education and tech sectors to check the reported issues.
The board is asking the public to be calm while it investigates all the concerns and works to ensure that future exams are fair and reliable.
