INEC Schedules By-Elections for August 16

The Independent National Electoral Commission has fixed Saturday, August 16, 2025, for the conduct of by-elections across affected constituencies in the country.

The elections will be held to fill vacant positions in the National and State Assemblies resulting from resignations, deaths, or annulments by the courts.

INEC Chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, made the announcement on Thursday during a consultative meeting with political parties in Abuja. Further details on the specific constituencies and logistics are expected to be released in due course.
