IGP Orders Immediate Transfer of Top Police Officers

The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has approved the deployment of seven Assistant Inspectors-General of Police (AIGs) and 18 Commissioners of Police (CPs) to new positions across Nigeria. This decision, which takes effect immediately, is aimed at improving the operations of the Nigeria Police Force.

The newly posted AIGs have been assigned to key roles, including command zones and special departments. Among them, AIG Margaret Ochalla will now lead the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) Annex in Lagos, while AIG Abayomi Peter Oladipo has been sent to Zone 13 in Ukpo. Others have been posted to zones in different states and important divisions at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.

In addition to these changes, 18 CPs awaiting promotion to the AIG rank have been reassigned. They have been posted to various departments, including community policing, special protection units, and regional commands. The postings cover different parts of the country, including Kano, Akure, Yenagoa, and Sokoto.

According to the police spokesperson, these transfers are part of ongoing efforts to strengthen security operations nationwide. The IGP has instructed all officers to take their new roles seriously and ensure they carry out their responsibilities with professionalism. He also stressed the importance of effective leadership and supervision in their new assignments.

The Nigeria Police Force believes these changes will help improve security and make law enforcement more effective across the country. The officers are expected to resume their duties immediately.
