One of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Governorship Aspirants from Okitipupa Local Government Area in Ondo State, Otunba Bamidele Akingboye, has described as a false statement the resolution credited to all the PDP governorship aspirants in the local government which announced Chief Eddy Olafeso as the sole governorship aspirant of PDP in Okitipupa Local Government ahead of the party’s primary election by May this year.

In a statement by Oyeniyi Iwakun, his media Aide, on Thursday evening, while reacting to the purported resolution being circulated on the social media that Olafeso emerged the sole governorship aspirant for Okitipupa Local Government through a shadow primary by all the PDP governorship aspirants in the Local Government, Akingboye, said the story was fabricated by agents of confusion and desperation.

He asked his political supporters across the 18 local governments of Ondo State to disregard the news.

The statement reads:

“Our attention has been drawn to a false statement making the rounds on the social and conventional media that Otunba Bamidele Akingboye (OBA) is no more contesting the Ondo State’s gubernatorial election.”

“This concocted story is an indication of cruelty from agents of confusion and desperation.”

“What happened at Engr. Omoniyi Ogunwa’s house in Ode Aye today was a meeting of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) aspirants from Okitipupa LGA to discuss how the party would win the forthcoming gubernatorial elections.”

“For the records, it must be emphatically stated that no election was held at the meeting.”

“I wish to inform all our supporters and followers to disregard any information of Akingboye’s withdrawal from the contest.”

“Otunba Bamidele Akingboye is still very much in the race; will participate in the party’s primary election and will surely win”, he said.
