House of Reps Confirm Oluyede as Nigeria’s Army Chief

By Our Correspondent

The Nigerian House of Representatives has officially approved Olufemi Oluyede as the Chief of Army Staff (COAS).

The decision came after a defense committee report was presented by Babajimi Benson during Thursday’s session.

Oluyede had previously served as the Acting COAS, following his appointment by President Bola Tinubu due to the ill-health and subsequent passing of his predecessor, Taoreed Lagbaja.

Earlier this week, Speaker Tajudeen Abbas read the president’s formal request for Oluyede’s confirmation during plenary.

The approval marks the conclusion of his screening by the joint committee on defence and army.
