Gunmen invade TIV community in Kogi, kill one, injure two

Unknown assailants launched a deadly early morning raid on a TIV settlement in Ogwutu village, Omala Local Government Area of Kogi State, leaving one person dead and two women injured.

According to security sources who spoke to Zagazola Makama, the attack occurred around 5 a.m. on Wednesday.

The gunmen reportedly stormed the area along Iyade Road, shooting sporadically and setting multiple houses on fire.

During the assault, 35-year-old Yega Hosamo was shot and killed, while two women—Veronica Jacob Alakashe and Nguvelen Kaase—suffered gunshot wounds. Alakashe was hit in the arm, and Kaase sustained injuries to her lower body.

The injured victims are currently receiving medical attention at Ochala Memorial Clinic in Abejukolo.

Meanwhile, the body of the deceased has been taken to the General Hospital mortuary for a post-mortem examination, as authorities intensify efforts to identify and apprehend the attackers.

Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
