Gunmen Abduct Pastor’s Wife, Church Member in Nasarawa

Suspected kidnappers on Sunday night abducted Mrs. Patience Nasamu, wife of Pastor Samuel Nasamu of Word of God Church, Agyaragu, and a female church member during an attack in Agyaragu, Obi Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.

Pastor Nasamu, who narrated the incident, said his wife — a nursing mother with a three-month-old baby — was taken alongside the visitor who had come to his home after church service.

“I barely left my wife and our visitor with our newborn baby to pray for one of my sick members when my wife placed a call to me. All I could hear was her voice praying. By the time I rushed home, both she and our member had been abducted, leaving our baby behind,” he said.

The pastor explained that the gunmen stormed his apartment within a compound, attempting to break doors and windows with hammers. When they failed, they resorted to sporadic shooting, forcing his wife to open the door. In the ensuing chaos, she and the visitor were taken away.

According to him, residents had earlier noticed strange faces on motorcycles around 7:00 p.m., before gunshots rang out around 8:15 p.m. The pastor said he has not heard from the abductors since the incident.

Police operatives later arrived at the scene and urged calm, assuring that efforts were underway to track down the perpetrators.

A resident of Agyaragu, who spoke anonymously, expressed concern over the worsening insecurity in the community. “We live every day in fear of being kidnapped. Several people, including farmers, are being abducted daily. Help us tell Governor Abdullahi Sule that Agyaragu is now at the mercy of kidnappers,” he lamented.
