Governor Uzodimma Sacks Imo Attorney General

Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State has dismissed the state’s Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Cyprian Akaolisa, in a move that has raised eyebrows across political circles.

The announcement was made public on Monday by Declan Emelumba, the Commissioner for Information, Public Orientation, and Strategy. The statement confirmed that the removal takes immediate effect, though no official reason was given for the sudden decision.

According to Emelumba, “His Excellency, Senator Hope Uzodimma, CON, has approved the removal of Barrister C.O.C. Akaolisa from office.” He added that the former Attorney General has been directed to return all government assets in his custody to the State Solicitor General and Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Justice.

Akaolisa, previously regarded as one of Uzodimma’s close allies, held a significant position within the administration and was once nominated as a replacement for the Deputy Governor in 2019. His removal has fueled speculation and conversations among observers and political stakeholders, with many seeking answers to the motive behind the development.
