Galatasaray best team ever, says Osimhen after 25th league title

By Charles Maduka

Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has helped Galatasaray clinch their record 25th Turkish Süper Lig title with a resounding 3-0 win over Kayserispor. The victory sealed the league crown with two matches to spare, putting the Istanbul giants eight points ahead of rivals Fenerbahçe.

Osimhen, who scored the opening goal, described Galatasaray as “the best” in a celebratory post on social media. His latest goal takes his tally to 25 in the league and 36 in all competitions since arriving on loan from Napoli last September.

The triumph completes a domestic double for Galatasaray following their Turkish Cup win over Trabzonspor, where Osimhen netted twice. It’s the first time since the 2018/19 season that the club has won both the league and cup titles.

The Nigerian forward’s impact has been historic, breaking Mario Jardel’s record to become the highest-scoring foreigner in a single Turkish football season. Meanwhile, Galatasaray’s dominant run—having led the table since matchday three—was capped off with a late penalty goal by goalkeeper Fernando Muslera.

As Galatasaray celebrates, attention turns to Osimhen’s future. Reports from Italy suggest Napoli has accepted an €85m bid from Juventus, while Al Hilal in Saudi Arabia is also interested in securing his services with a big-money offer.

Osimhen’s performance has not only revived Galatasaray’s domestic dominance but has also opened the door for a possible move to another top-tier club, as he continues to make headlines with his goal-scoring prowess.
