According to Afripost, her mother passed away on February 7, 2023, a loss the family acknowledged at the time with gratitude to God. Reflecting on the occasion, Akindele shared a heartfelt tribute, reminiscing about the cherished moments they shared.

The actress admitted that even after two years, it still feels unreal that her mother is no longer with them. She expressed her deep longing for her and wished her eternal peace.

In an emotional post, she wrote:
