Fulani leaders from the Miyetti Allah Dangol Fulako on Wednesday gathered for a peace summit in Miri District, Bauchi State.
The summit was held to encourage peaceful coexistence between herders and farmers before the rainy season begins.
The event aimed to prevent potential conflicts by addressing key issues that could lead to disputes between the two groups.
A prayer session for peace and unity was held, with speakers stressing the need for open communication and understanding.
The district head of Miri, Abubakar Usman, praised the Fulani leaders for their efforts and urged farmers to respect established cattle routes, warning that planting crops in these areas could spark conflicts.
He also advised village and hamlet leaders to remain neutral when handling disagreements between farmers and herders, stressing the importance of fairness in resolving issues.
Several participants at the summit expressed hope that such discussions would reduce tensions during the upcoming farming season, promoting lasting peace.
