Four Drown While Swimming In Ekiti River

Two brothers and two friends have been confirmed dead by the Ekiti State Police Command.

They reportedly died when they went for swimming in a river at Okemesi-Ekiti, Ekiti State.

According to the Ekiti State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Sunday Abutu, a distress report was received on Sunday on the matter.

Abutu said the incident happened when a 23-year-old man and a 25-year-old native of Okemesi-Ekiti went to river Osun on Ajindo/Idoile road to swim with two of their friends who came from Lagos State to attend a burial ceremony.

The PPRO noted that “The four young men unfortunately got drowned.

“There have been reported incidents of drowning across rivers in different states in Nigeria with lives lost in the process.”
