The Federal Government has declared Thursday, May 1, 2025, a public holiday in recognition of this year’s Workers’ Day celebration.
The announcement was made on Tuesday in Abuja by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, through a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Magdalene Ajani.
Dr. Tunji-Ojo praised Nigerian workers for their dedication, resilience, and contributions to the nation’s progress, stressing that their sacrifices play a vital role in shaping Nigeria’s global reputation and economic growth.
He emphasized the importance of stability and peace in driving industrial development and called on workers across all sectors to embrace innovation, enhance productivity, and maintain high standards of professionalism.
The minister also encouraged the workforce to remain committed to promoting good governance and equitable distribution of resources, noting that these values are essential to building a stronger Nigeria.
Reiterating the government’s commitment to national security and citizens’ welfare, he expressed confidence in a brighter future under the leadership of President Bola Tinubu and the Renewed Hope Agenda.
Dr. Tunji-Ojo concluded by wishing all Nigerian workers a safe and fulfilling Workers’ Day celebration.
