FG Approves Free Train Rides Nationwide for Christmas, New Year

By Our Correspondent

Starting December 20, Nigerians can enjoy free train rides across the country to ease travel costs during the festive season.

The federal government announced this decision following its executive council meeting, aiming to assist citizens in reuniting with loved ones for Christmas and New Year celebrations.

The initiative, which runs until January 5, mirrors similar programs implemented last year during Christmas and Sallah.

By offering free train services nationwide, the government seeks to alleviate transportation expenses for Nigerians, particularly those facing financial challenges.

This move builds on previous efforts, such as last year’s 50% discount on inter-state road travel and fully subsidized train trips, to ensure affordable mobility during the holidays.
