The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has dismissed reports suggesting that land within the FCT was allocated to any of the children of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
Reacting to the allegations in a statement on Tuesday, Lere Olayinka, the Minister’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, described the claims as part of a series of politically motivated attempts to tarnish the Minister’s reputation.
He said the reports, which claimed that Wike had used companies such as JOAQ Farms and Jordan Farms to secure land for his children, lacked credibility and were based on assumptions rather than facts.
“Last week, it was a false report about over 2,000 hectares of land in Maitama and Asokoro being given to one of the Minister’s sons—even when such large land does not exist in those areas,” Olayinka said. “This week, they are linking a company, Jordan Farms, to another son of the Minister without any proof.”
He emphasized that while any Nigerian, including the Minister’s family members, has the legal right to own property if due process is followed, no land has been allocated to any of Wike’s children to date.
Olayinka further clarified that the land allocated to Jordan Farms and Estates Limited was legally processed and that none of Wike’s children has any directorship or ownership in the company. He noted that the similarity in names should not be used to draw misleading conclusions.
“The fact that one of the Minister’s sons bears the name Jordan doesn’t mean every company with ‘Jordan’ in its name belongs to him,” he said. “Ownership records are available at the Corporate Affairs Commission, and we invite anyone to verify them.”
He also dismissed insinuations based on a document bearing the signature of one of the Minister’s aides, saying assisting someone with document collection does not imply ownership.
Olayinka alleged that the wave of misinformation was being driven by political figures unhappy with the Minister’s stance on national issues, particularly his support for political power rotation between the North and South.
He concluded by stating that the accusations lack merit and would not distract the Minister from ongoing development efforts in line with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda.
