The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) chapter of the African Action Congress (AAC) has called for the immediate dismissal of Minister Nyesom Wike over what it described as the “shameless misuse of public office” after he allegedly travelled to Dubai for the 2025 Asia Pacific Cities Summit and Mayor’s Forum with his two sons, Jordan and Joaquin Wike, as official delegates.
In a statement signed by its chairman, Agena Robert Ande, the AAC accused the minister of turning governance into a “family enterprise” and demanded that President Bola Tinubu remove him without delay.
“We call on President Tinubu to sack Minister Wike immediately and put an end to his lavish and arrogant style of leadership. Public funds should not be used for personal gain, especially not for family members. This is unacceptable and undermines the trust of the Nigerian people,” the statement read.
The party accused Wike of ignoring the suffering of ordinary residents in the FCT while prioritising luxury and personal comfort for his household.
“Here in FCT, schools take lessons under trees; hospitals lack basic facilities and medication. Many families displaced by the minister’s demolitions remain abandoned, yet he uses public funds for personal trips with his family. This is the height of irresponsibility,” the group stated.
The AAC demanded transparency and accountability in government, warning that continued tolerance for such actions would further erode public trust.
“We cannot continue like this. Abuja deserves better leadership, not one disconnected from the realities of ordinary citizens.”
The development has sparked online outrage, with many describing the minister’s conduct as “insensitive” and “tone-deaf” in the face of mounting economic hardship across the country.
