Brigadier-General Maharazu Tsiga (rtd), a former Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), has been released after spending 56 days in captivity.
Tsiga was kidnapped on February 5, 2025, from his hometown in Bakori Local Government Area of Katsina State, alongside nine others.
Despite his family paying a ransom, he remained in captivity for several more weeks before being freed.
Conflicting reports have emerged regarding the ransom amount. While some sources claim N60 million was paid, others suggest the actual figure was significantly higher.
A family member revealed that after the payment, the kidnappers went silent for a week before allowing Tsiga to speak with his family. Although they later demanded additional funds, no further payments were made.
Tsiga has since been released and is reportedly in stable condition. Sources indicate he is being transported from Zamfara State to Abuja.
A senior military officer confirmed his freedom, while his family has expressed deep relief over his safe return.
