Immigration Officer Kidnapped in Makurdi as Armed Gunmen Raid Residence

An official of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Simon Agbo, has been abducted by suspected kidnappers at his residence in Makurdi, the capital of Benue State.

According to a family source, Agbo was taken around 7:15 p.m. on Sunday while conversing with neighbors outside his home, located near NKST Church, Kuan, behind Modern Market. The kidnappers, armed with firearms, fired several warning shots to disperse the crowd before forcefully abducting him.

Agbo, who had been transferred from Kwara to Benue earlier this year in February, had only recently resumed his duties in the state.

Following the abduction, local youths and vigilante groups launched an immediate search, but the kidnappers managed to escape without being apprehended.

A relative of Agbo revealed that a neighbor, who had been insistent on meeting him that evening, was detained by the police for suspicious actions. This individual is now in police custody as investigations continue.

The kidnappers have reportedly contacted the family and are demanding a ransom of N20 million for Agbo’s release.

Attempts to reach the Nigeria Immigration Service and state police authorities for comment have yet to yield any response.
