Even if suffering is sweeping the entire country, President Bola Tinubu will not make promises to Nigerians that he cannot keep, according to Ajuri Ngelale, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on media and publicity.
Ngelale, who was interviewed this morning on Channels television, has said that the process of restructuring Nigeria is a painful one, but that Nigerians will ultimately see it as worthwhile.

Everyone in this country is aware of the widespread hardships that exist. The president, though, is refusing to make empty promises. He won’t promise that everything would be OK when the people of Nigeria finally get out of bed tomorrow. When we get to the other side, it will be permanent, and he is telling Nigerians exactly where we are and how we are getting there.
“I liken his excellency, Mr. President, to a surgeon who says, ‘We can no longer put a bandage over our wounds; I actually have to go in, pull the bullet out so to speak,’ which is a painful process but results in lasting recovery. Once we emerge on the other side, Nigerians will see that implementing these important and vital economic changes was unquestionably the best course of action.
