EPL: Arsenal Receive Fresh Injury Boost Ahead of Liverpool Clash

Arsenal have been handed a major lift ahead of their crucial Premier League clash with Liverpool, as striker Gabriel Jesus edges closer to a long-awaited return from injury.

The 28-year-old Brazilian has been out since January after suffering a serious knee injury during the Gunners’ FA Cup third-round defeat to Manchester United. He later underwent ACL surgery, which ruled him out for the rest of last season and the early weeks of the current campaign.

Jesus’ absence forced Arsenal to look elsewhere for firepower, leading to the summer arrivals of Noni Madueke, Viktor Gyökeres, and Eberechi Eze. While the new signings have impressed in patches, manager Mikel Arteta has been vocal about the importance of having Jesus’ experience and versatility back in the squad.

On Sunday, the former Manchester City forward delighted fans by posting a video of himself back in training on the Emirates training pitch. Accompanying the clip, he wrote:
“It’s been seven months of pain, uncertainty, and anxiety. Today, I finally feel light, like a child playing football again. GOD IS GREAT.”

His return comes at a time when Arsenal are building momentum in the league and eyeing top spot. Arteta will, however, tread cautiously to avoid rushing Jesus back too soon, given his history with knee problems.

Adding to the good news, it has also been confirmed that Bukayo Saka and Martin Ødegaard—who both picked up knocks during Saturday’s 2-0 win over Leeds United—have escaped serious injuries. The duo are expected to be available for selection when Arsenal face Liverpool next weekend, easing fears among supporters.
