Former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) governor, Godwin Emefiele, has asked the Federal Capital Territory High Court in Abuja to stop the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) from presenting more witnesses in his ongoing trial for procurement fraud.
Emefiele’s lawyer, Matthew Burkaa (SAN), told the court on Monday that the EFCC had originally listed only 10 witnesses in its evidence and should not be allowed to add more.
In response, EFCC’s lawyer, Rotimi Oyedepo (SAN), disagreed, arguing that more witnesses were needed to ensure fairness in the case.
After listening to both sides, Justice Hamza Muazu postponed the ruling to March 20.
