Efforts ongoing to rescue abducted traditional ruler — Kogi govt

The Kogi State Government has assured residents that efforts are ongoing to rescue the District Head of Bagaji Odo in Omala Local Government Area, who was abducted by gunmen on Monday last week.

Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has directed security agencies to intensify operations to secure the monarch’s release and apprehend the kidnappers.

In a statement issued on Wednesday by the Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Femi Fanwo, the government said security operatives have also been mandated to continuously monitor flashpoints to reduce criminal activities in the state.

“The Government of Kogi State will continue to prioritise the safety of lives and property of residents and make the State uninhabitable to criminals,” Fanwo stated.

He urged residents to provide credible intelligence to aid ongoing operations, assuring that updates on the rescue efforts will be communicated in due course.
