The Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, on Monday visited Yelwata town in Guma Local Government Area of Benue State, where several residents lost their lives during an attack on Friday night.
The attack, which was reportedly carried out by armed herders or bandits, is the latest in a series of violent incidents affecting parts of the state.
During his visit, the defence chief assessed the scene and interacted with security personnel on ground.
Before leaving the state, General Musa is scheduled to meet with Governor Hyacinth Alia at the Government House in Makurdi.
His visit comes as the state continues to face challenges related to security and displacement caused by frequent attacks.
The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, is also expected to arrive in Benue soon for an official visit related to the ongoing security operations.
