The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has announced that it will begin distributing petrol (Premium Motor Spirit) and diesel across Nigeria from August 15, 2025.
To support this major rollout, the company is introducing 4,000 brand-new tankers powered by Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), aimed at improving fuel delivery across the country.
According to a statement issued on Sunday, the supply will be open to a wide range of users including fuel marketers, filling station operators, manufacturers, telecom companies, aviation firms, and other large-scale fuel consumers.
The company also revealed plans to build smaller support stations and deploy an extra 100 CNG-powered tankers to strengthen the delivery system.
Dangote Refinery added that the fuel will be delivered at no extra cost to help ease distribution issues and lower transportation costs in critical sectors of the economy.
“This is a bold national initiative that aims to transform fuel distribution in Nigeria,” the company said. “Starting August 15, we will begin supplying petrol and diesel to various major users across the country with free logistics support. This effort is part of our mission to cut logistics costs, improve energy access, promote cleaner energy, and support Nigeria’s economy.”
Aliko Dangote, founder of the refinery, had earlier hinted at a major shake-up in Nigeria’s oil sector—not focused on lowering prices, but on completely overhauling how the downstream sector works. He made this known after President Bola Tinubu’s recent inspection of the $20 billion refinery in Lekki, Lagos.
The announcement also comes at a time when tanker drivers in Lagos are threatening to halt operations over a N12,500 charge per truck for using the E-Call Up system on the Lekki-Epe road.
In addition, Dangote Refinery says it is introducing a credit system for buyers purchasing 500,000 litres and above. This is expected to revive closed fuel stations, reduce inflation, support small businesses, and back President Tinubu’s economic reforms.
