A group known as Ilutitun Youth Development Forum (IYDF) in Ilutitun, Okitipupa local government Area of Ondo State, on Wednesday, staged a protest to reject an alleged proposed isolation center brought to the town by Ondo state government.

Starnews NG reports that there were rumours making the round that the Ondo State government had proposed to bring coronavirus isolation center to the community as a result of the coronavirus pandemic rampaging the nation.

It was rumoured that the state government had proposed the building of Caring Heart Methodist Mega School in the community as the Isolation Center.

The president of the group, Comrade Omokunle Akintade, told Starnews NG that the community has unanimously rejected the proposed building as an Isolation Center for Coronavirus patients.

”It is not only our group, IYDF, that rejected the government proposed isolation center, but also the monarch, the chiefs and all the sons and daughters of the town”, Akintade said.

He further stressed that he was informed that the people of other communities like Irele and Ore had earlier rejected the government proposal to put isolation center in their communities before it was later decided by the state government to put it in Ilutitun town.

On inquiry, the mornach of Ilutitun community, His Royal Highness, Oba Earnest Adeoye Idepefo, the Majuwa of Ilutitun, told Starnews NG in a telephone interview that he was not aware that Ondo State government proposed to bring coronavirus isolation center to the town, not until IYDF extended their protest to his palace around 10am on Wednesday.

Comrade Omokunle said the youths of the town did not want coronavirus isolation center to be planted in a school building surrounded by residential houses.

He requested Ondo State government to look for another place in the outskirts of the community to be used as an Isolation center.

Starnews NG reports that it was not yet clear as at press time how the group got the information about the alleged proposed isolation center in Ilutitun.
