Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has been Suspended by the National Working Committee of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Starnews confirmed his suspension on Saturday from a member of the Ondo State Working Committee of the ruling APC in Akure, the Ondo State capital.

The news of his suspension flooded the social media on Thursday but there was no any official statement from the NWC of the party to that effect.

But on Saturday morning, a member of the State Working Committee in Ondo who spoke on the condition of anonymity to Starnews confirmed the information as true.

He said: “the governor has been officially suspended. It has been confirmed. He was suspended for anti-party activities. Please don’t quote me because I’m not in the capacity to speak on the matter,” the source said.

Recall that governor Akeredolu was queried by party’s NWC last month over what they described as glaring anti-party activities in the last presidential/National Assembly election in Ondo State.

He was accused of dividing the party through anti-party activities by allegedly supporting and sponsoring candidates of Action Alliance (AA) against some candidates of the ruling APC which according to some party leaders was responsible for the woeful performance of the APC in the last general election in Ondo State.

However, phone calls put across to the Chief Press Secretary of the Governor by our correspondent to get his reaction on this matter were not answered as at the time of filing this report .
