BREAKING: Prosecution Seeks Death Penalty for Nnamdi Kanu

The prosecution in the terrorism trial of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has urged a Federal High Court in Abuja to impose the maximum penalty of death on him.

Leading the prosecution, Adegboyega Awomolo (SAN), told the court that more than 75 security personnel lost their lives due to the terrorist activities orchestrated by Kanu, his groups and followers. He added that numerous other innocent Nigerians were killed and significant public property destroyed.

Awomolo argued that subjecting Kanu to the death penalty would serve justice for all victims affected by his acts of terrorism.

Justice James Omotosho has adjourned proceedings in the case until shortly before 4:00 pm, when he is expected to pronounce sentence.
