The New Nigerian Peoples Party, NNPP has suspended its candidate, Pastor Azemhe Azena.

This is coming in less than four months to the September 21, 2024, governorship election in Edo state.

The candidate was suspended by his ward’s executives in Etsako East Local Government Area of the state.

The suspension notice dated June 3, 2024, was signed by the ward 10 chairman, Kadiri Eshimokha, Stella Afebua, Woman Leader, Eshiobu Johnson, Youth Leader and Imonikho Abdul, Secretary.

The signee said the governorship candidate was suspended for alleged gross misconduct, disregard for party and anti-party activities.

The letter of suspension was also copied to the National Chairman of the party, Edo State Chairman, Edo North senatorial Vice Chairman, South-South Vice Chairman, National Chairman of INEC and the Edo State Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC.

The notice was received by the State Chairman of the party, June 5, 2024.

Reacting in an interview with newsmen, Azemhe Azena, the party’s governorship candidate, described the purported suspension as fake, inconsequential and of no effect.

Azemhe alleged that those who carried out the purported suspension are non-members of the party in the ward

According to him, the authentic Ward 10 Chairman of NNPP in the Etsako East Local government area is Goddy lyamah.

”He has since refuted the claim to be false and that persons whose names appeared in the suspension letter are not members of the party”, said Azemhe.
