Boko Haram Kidnaps Army University Professor, Others in Borno

Gunmen believed to be Boko Haram/ISWAP members kidnapped Professor Abubakar Eljuma of the Nigerian Army University Biu (NAUB) along with several passengers.

The attack happened on the Damaturu-Biu road near Kamuya village in Borno State.

Professor Eljuma is said to be among the top contenders for the position of Vice-Chancellor at NAUB.

The area where the attack occurred has been a hotspot for similar incidents over the years, with frequent abductions, bomb explosions, and killings reported in the past decade.

According to sources, the terrorists stopped two Golf cars and a Borno Express bus, seizing an unspecified number of travelers.

Reports indicate that all female passengers were released, while the male passengers, including Professor Eljuma, were taken away.

A security source confirmed the attack and called for prayers, especially during the ongoing Ramadan, for the safe return of the abducted victims.

Meanwhile, staff at NAUB have acknowledged the incident and revealed that the university’s management is currently holding an emergency meeting regarding the situation.
