Ekiti-kete, we are blessed, individually and collective as a State. Most advanced countries develop and sustain their growth not because they have abundant resources, but because they are blessed with patriotic leaders who place the common interest, wellbeing and welfare of the generality of the people on the front burner.

In the words of His Excellency, Governor Kayode Fayemi, “Ekiti may be limited in resources, but our resourcefulness is limitless”. This is no mere talk; he has demonstrated this can-do spirit through his various developmental strides despite paucity of funds.

Though, we are not where we ought to be yet! The fact remains also that we are far from where we used to be. With the reconstruction and commissioning of Aramoko – Erijiyan road, Agbado – Omuo road, Oye – Ikun road, Ilupeju – Igbemo road and Ilawe – Ibuji road, coupled with the ongoing work on the New Ado – Iyin road, dualisation of Ado – Ifaki road, 1,000km rural access road and several other township and palliative road projects, you will agree with me that we have never had it so good.

At the historic swearing of Governor Kayode Fayemi on October 16, 2018 he did promise to restore our values, dignity and honour as a people and state. Despite the challenges arising from the novel COVID-19, he has not only kept these promises; he has also proven bookmakers wrong by surpassing their expectations. Ekiti has consistently been in the news for positive reasons in the past three years contrary to the scenario before the second coming of Governor Kayode Fayemi.

Our knowledge economy is now on a strong footing. It is an open secret that no single project was executed in any school in Ekiti State between 2014 and 2018. It is, therefore, a thing of joy that over 2,000 projects have been executed in our public schools within the last three years. Beyond physical infrastructure, our amiable governor has also gone a step further by increasing the man power base of our education sector and the civil service by recruiting more qualified hands through a rigorous qualitative process. Little wonder recent statistics rated Ekiti State as having competitive grades in WAEC, NECO and JAMB results.

The governor’s magic wand manifests in all the strata of governance. For instance, in the area of infrastructure development, JKF has ensured and still ensuring that all hitherto abandoned projects are giving accelerated attention. One would have thought that his determination to ensure completion of all abandoned projects would have tied his hands from initiating his own. In the contrary, many of his own projects have been completed while many others are at various stages of completion.

Agriculture, the mainstay of our economy is also currently receiving the best of attention in Ekiti State. For instance Ikun Dairy farm has been revamped and now running with a projection of 10,000 litres per day milk production. Other viable agribusinesses are thriving across the 3 senatorial districts. These initiatives are programmed to be backed and sustained by unprecedented marketing drives anchored on the ongoing Agro-allied Cargo Airport.

While other economically viable states are owing several months of salary, Ekiti State government has not only met its salary obligation to its workers, but it has also kept its promise of gradually offsetting the arrears inherited from the previous administration. You will recall that just few days ago, workers in the state smiled home with their November salary and one month arrear of July, 2018.

Ekiti-kete, just few days again, we also conducted local government election into the 16 Local Government Areas and the newly created 19 Local Council Development Areas. As His Excellency, Governor Fayemi rightly said, the LCDAs were created to meet the yearnings and expectations of our people. The survival of these LCDAs and other laudable projects, programs and policies of this administration, depends on you and I.

Ekiti-kete,
* Do you want the new LCDAs to be cancelled?
* Do you want Ikun Dairy Farm to die again?
* Do you want our kids to study in dilapidated buildings again?
* Do you want our workers to be denied their salaries again?
* Do you want Ekiti State to be in the news for negative reasons again?
* Do you want the various agribusinesses to die or leave Ekiti State?
* Do you want Ekiti State to be littered with abandoned projects again?

In line with your resounding “No!” to the questions above, you will all agree with me that, to ensure that none of the above ever happen to Ekiti State, we must all rally round and support the continuity agenda of Governor Kayode Fayemi. We must ensure that the APC doesn’t only retain power in Ekiti State but to also retain power through someone that has been within the system. Someone that is part of the aforementioned success story of Governor Fayemi. Someone that can easily take over and sustain the good work of the present administration.

We have, at one time or the other, benefitted from the generosity of our leaders. Therefore, we should all rise to the occasion at this time to ensure that the continuity agenda of our leaders suffers no setback. We must do everything within our power, individually and collectively, to ensure that Ekiti State does not relapse from the giant stride of Governor Kayode Fayemi. The pessimists may not appreciate what has been achieved in the past 3 years but every well-meaning individual knows that we are better off from where we started. It is our duty to ensure the sustenance of the good job.

We are blessed that our leaders find one of us worthy enough to continue the good work of Governor Kayode Fayemi.

On this note ladies and gentlemen, I present to you, my brother and friend, the symbol of our continuity agenda, Hon. Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji (a.k.a BAO). I urge you all to support him and work for his success, both at the primaries and general election. If you love John Kayode Fayemi and the sustainability of the ongoing development in Ekiti, go out there and preach the gospel. Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji is the touch-bearer for the JKF continuity agenda. Let us jointly sustain the legacy of JKF through BAO.
