Ballon d’Or 2025: Rashford names three players to win award

Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford, currently on loan at Barcelona, has tipped three players he believes are strong contenders for the 2025 Ballon d’Or award.

Rashford included two of his Barcelona teammates, Lamine Yamal and Raphinha, alongside Ousmane Dembélé, among those he feels deserve to be crowned the world’s best player this year.

“[Ousmane] Dembélé, Raphinha, they all deserve it,” Rashford told reporters. “It’s hard to pick one, but they’re all mature and have had a fantastic season. Lamine is so young that he is sure to win it. He’s a top talent, a top player.”

The trio — Dembélé, Yamal, and Raphinha — are all part of the 30-man shortlist for the prestigious award, which recognizes the best performing footballer across the world in the past year.

The 2025 Ballon d’Or ceremony is expected to generate intense debate, with several standout performers across Europe vying for football’s most coveted individual honour.
