The Yari Renaissance Movement for Tinubu 2027 has condemned the recent political stance of former Osun State Governor, Rauf Aregbesola, describing his alleged plans to challenge President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 elections as “doomed from the start.”
Aregbesola, now the National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), had during a meeting with party stakeholders in Akure, Ondo State, hinted at a broad political alliance aimed at unseating the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the next general elections.
“We must rise above individual ambitions and unite,” Aregbesola was quoted as saying. “We face several critical elections—presidential, legislative, and state—and unity is our only path to victory.”
Reacting to the statement, Chairman of the Yari Renaissance Movement, Kabir Ali Danbaba, in a strongly worded response on Friday, dismissed the idea, calling it a betrayal of the man who helped Aregbesola climb the political ladder.
“The entire plot is already a failed mission,” Danbaba said. “This attempt to undermine President Tinubu—your long-time benefactor—is not only disappointing, it is bound to collapse before it even begins.”
Danbaba reminded the former governor of the pivotal role Tinubu played in shaping his political career, recalling how Tinubu appointed him as Commissioner for Works in Lagos and later backed his successful run for the Osun governorship—even at personal and political costs.
“President Tinubu went beyond the call of loyalty for Aregbesola,” Danbaba noted. “He made sacrifices, stood by him during legal battles, and supported his administration when others wouldn’t. This is not just political disloyalty; it is a clear case of ingratitude.”
He accused Aregbesola of political opportunism, suggesting that envy might be the driving force behind his latest moves.
“Even if Tinubu chooses to remain silent, divine justice will respond to this betrayal,” Danbaba warned.
The pro-Tinubu group also dismissed the ADC’s coalition strategy as nothing more than political daydreaming, arguing that the party lacks the influence or structure to pose a serious threat in 2027.
“You cannot gather a few disenchanted politicians and expect to dismantle a movement that is nationally rooted,” he said. “Whether the ADC survives until then or not, President Tinubu will remain a decisive figure in Nigeria’s leadership landscape.”
Danbaba concluded with a stern message for Aregbesola: “Keep building castles in the air, but know that history is watching. The day of judgment will surely come.”
