200 members of the All Progressive Congress, APC, under the leadership of Rotimi Olarenwaju, popularly known as Agba, in Akoko Northeast and Akoko Northwest Local Government Area of Ondo State, have decamped to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

Hon. Fatai Adams, PDP State Chairman in Ondo State, received the defectors at Irun-Akoko on Monday.

Starnews Nigeria reports that the PDP state chairman said the ruling APC has brought unimaginable damage to the country.

“It brought woes, misery, diseases, hunger, starvation and death. APC killed businesses and people began to lose hope in life thereby considering suicide as an option. Those who had the opportunity to leave moved out of the country and they are still jetting out of the country in droves. The ties of cohesion have been broken and every region is now agitating for separation”, Hon Adams said.

In a statement by Leye Igbagbo, the director of Media and Publicity, the PDP said on Monday that the party chairman encouraged the defectors to be of good cheer, assuring them that the PDP will reunite the country and cement its broken walls.

At the Campaign, the Ondo State Director of Atiku/Okowa Presidential Campaign Organization, Senator Boluwaji Kunlere drew the attention of the good people of Akoko to the PDP era when many Akoko sons and daughters occupied juicy positions in government.

Sen Kunlere said: “Barr. Adetokunbo Kayode was a Minister in the Ministries of Labour, Defence, and later Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation.

“Dr Olu Agunloye was appointed Minister of Defence (Navy) while the Federal Civil Service Commissionership position was given to Hon. Victor Olabimtan. I can continue to mention them like that. They occupied these positions during the PDP government. Asked them about who occupies such offices now under the ill-conceived APC. The story is an ugly one and nothing to write home about”, he added.

Mr Eyitayo Jegede SAN who is the Ondo State Vice Chairman of the Atiku/Okowa Campaign Organization canvassed votes for Alhaji Atiku Abubakar as Presidential Candidate of the PDP and Sen. Ifeanyi Okowa as Vice Presidential Candidate and similarly urged the people to vote for Akogun Tokunbo Modupe who is the party’s Senatorial Candidate for Ondo North Senatorial District of Ondo State.

Jegede also told the gathering to vote for Hon. Olusegun Kadri popularly known as Sabella as the Party’s House of Representatives Candidate for Akoko North-East and Akoko-Northwest Federal Constituency while he presented Mr Akintola Olanrewaju (JP) to the people as House of Assembly Candidate for Akoko North-East State Constituency and Mr Abiola Olanipekun, and Barrister Afe Felix as the candidates for Akoko Northwest State Constituency I and II respectively.

At the campaign venue, Starnews Nigeria reports that Rt. Hon Bakkita Bello, former speaker of Ondo State House of Assembly and Kennedy Ikantu Peretei who is the PDP State Director of Media & Publicity were present.

Others include Basorun Tola Alabere, the Vice Chairman of Ondo State PDP and members of the Party, Barr. Oluseye Olujimi, and Boluwaji Bamidele.
