Former lawmaker, Dino Melaye, has declared that the All Progressives Congress (APC) has “conquered” Nigeria but insisted that its dominance will end in the 2027 general elections.
Speaking on Arise Television’s Prime Time programme on Monday, Melaye said Nigerians are now “wiser and more prepared” to defend their votes, stressing that the next polls will not be business as usual for the ruling party.
The former senator revealed that he is no longer a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), but now a proud member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), which he described as the platform that would unseat President Bola Tinubu.
“There are issues of misgovernance, maladministration out there. Those are the issues I think we should discuss. PDP is a political party. I’m not a member anymore. I’m a proud member of the ADC. And that is the party that will unseat Tinubu and, by the grace of God, send APC out of the villa come May 29,” Melaye said.
He further noted that while the APC “came, saw, and conquered” in 2015, the tide is turning, and Nigerians are determined to chart a new course in 2027.
“The APC, they came, saw and conquered at a time. But I want to tell you that 2027 will be a different story. Nigerians are wiser, we are more prepared, and we will defend our votes this time,” he added.
Melaye maintained that the opposition is better organised ahead of the elections, vowing that the contest will not be “a tea party as usual.”
