Akure Has Witnessed a Decade of Peace, Progress — Aiyedatiwa Celebrates Deji’s 10th Coronation Anniversary

Governor of Ondo State, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has praised the Deji of Akure Kingdom, Oba Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade Aladelusi, Odundun II, for a decade of impactful and peaceful reign, noting that Akure has experienced notable progress and unity under his leadership.

The governor gave the commendation on Saturday, July 19, 2025, during the homage parade and award ceremony held at Democracy Park, Akure, as part of events marking the monarch’s 10th coronation anniversary.

Describing the celebration as a “momentous occasion,” Governor Aiyedatiwa congratulated the Deji and the entire Akure Kingdom, applauding the monarch’s steadfast commitment to development, cultural preservation, and support for successive governments in the state.

“Your Imperial Majesty, your reign has been marked by significant achievements, particularly in promoting peace, unity, and cultural preservation,” Aiyedatiwa said. “Akure, as the state capital, has greatly benefited from your visionary leadership.”

The governor lauded Oba Aladelusi’s contributions as the immediate past Chairman of the Ondo State Council of Obas and acknowledged the importance of traditional institutions in enhancing good governance.

He emphasized his administration’s dedication to the infrastructural and economic growth of Akure, urging indigenes to support ongoing developmental efforts.

“We have initiated various projects to reposition Akure to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with other Southwest capitals. I appeal to all sons and daughters of Akure to join us in this mission,” he added.

Chairman of the Central Planning Committee, Mr. Olufemi Meshe, in his welcome remarks, said the event was organised to reflect on the monarch’s remarkable journey and celebrate the enduring cultural heritage of Akure.

As part of the celebration, prominent indigenes were honoured with community development awards in recognition of their contributions to Akure Kingdom. Among the awardees were the Minister of Youth Development, Hon. Ayodele Olawande; Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Taiwo Fasoranti; and Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan.

Others honoured included Mr. Eyitayo Jegede (SAN), Senator Tayo Alasoadura, Hon. Ifedayo Abegunde (Abena), Mr. Ifedayo Adedipe (SAN), Mrs. Tolulola Bayode, Mr. Olumide Origunloye, Mr. Femi Meshe, Prof. Daramola Adamolekun, and Prof. Adenike Osofisan.

The event attracted dignitaries, traditional leaders, government officials, and residents, all gathered to celebrate what many described as a decade of purposeful and progressive leadership in Akure.
