Akeredolu Allegedly Considers Joining PDP Over Imposition of Candidates By APC NWC

Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State is reportedly being considered dumping the Ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to join the opposition People Democratic Party (PDP) over the imposition of candidates  by the National Working Committee, (NWC) of the party on Tuesday where the party did not conduct primary election for some Aspirants in Ondo State due to automatic tickets given some serving Lawmakers.

Recall that the NWC of the APC had on Tuesday returned some serving lawmakers unopposed with Ondo State inclusive. A decision which does not go down well with the state governor, other aspirants; and has generated lot of controversies and protests among party party leaders and members.

A source from governor’s office who hinted starnews of this development said that Governor Akeredolu and governor of Kaduna state, Nasir El-Rufai had visited President Muhammadu Buhari in Abuja to seek his immediate intervention but unfortuately, the source said that the outcome of the meeting with the president does not raise the hope of the governor.

The governor was said to be worried over the incident as all his loyalists were majorly affected by the decision of the NWC of APC to compensate some Lawmakers with automatic tickets for their loyalty to the party.

According to the source, the governor who confided in some key loyalists threatened to leave the party (APC) and join the PDP as it seems he was the target following the decision of the NWC not conduct primary election, the source hinted.
