Ajayi to Appeal Tribunal’s Ruling on Ondo Guber Election

Agboola Ajayi, the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo’s 2024 election, has announced plans to appeal the recent decision by the State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal.

The tribunal, on June 4, upheld the victory of Gov. Lucky Aiyedatiwa of the All Progressives Congress (APC), dismissing the petitions against him as baseless.

In a statement issued in Akure, Ajayi expressed disappointment over the tribunal’s ruling, stating that the PDP had thoroughly reviewed the judgment and found that it failed to properly consider key evidence and exhibits presented during the trial.

He emphasized the party’s determination to seek justice, stressing that they would take the case to the Court of Appeal.

Ajayi also conveyed his concerns about the state of the country’s democracy, arguing that electoral laws must be respected to avoid undermining the integrity of the electoral process.

He pledged that the PDP would continue to pursue their legal rights and ensure a fair outcome.
