By Charles Maduka

A High Court sitting in Lafia, Nasarawa State, has sentenced Oluwatimileyin Ajayi to death by hanging for the murder of Salome Adaidu, a member of the National Youth Service Corps.

Delivering the judgment on Thursday, Justice Simon Aboki found Ajayi guilty of culpable homicide, after the court established that he killed and dismembered the corps member. The court ruled that the crime was deliberate and brutal.

Ajayi was convicted on a one-count charge of culpable homicide, contrary to Section 221 of the Penal Code of Northern Nigeria, which prescribes the death penalty upon conviction.

Further details surrounding the case are expected to emerge.
