…Urges appointees to hit the ground running, warns against undue external influence
Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State on Monday, July 14, 2025, inaugurated a new set of commissioners into the State Executive Council, calling on them to immediately swing into action and uphold the administration’s vision of transparency, integrity, and service to the people.
The swearing-in, held at The Dome, Akure, drew dignitaries from across the state, including political leaders, traditional rulers, religious figures, and civil servants.
In his address, Governor Aiyedatiwa described the ceremony as a critical step in the collective pursuit of a better Ondo State, while urging the new appointees to meet the high expectations of citizens who overwhelmingly gave the administration its mandate.
“Our people expect nothing less than excellence,” the Governor said. “This is a call to duty, and not a reward. You must justify the trust reposed in you by delivering impactful results guided by competence, integrity, and patriotism.”
He noted that the delay in constituting the new cabinet was intentional, aimed at ensuring careful selection based on merit and alignment with the administration’s goals. He emphasized that the philosophy of “slow and steady wins the race” has guided his leadership approach.
Aiyedatiwa charged the commissioners to key into the administration’s OUR EASE agenda — a 7-point blueprint focusing on Economic Development, Food Security, Education, Healthcare, Infrastructure, Security, Youth Empowerment, and Social Welfare.
Highlighting key achievements, the Governor listed infrastructure upgrades, social welfare programs for vulnerable groups, and increased investor engagements as some of the early wins of his government.
On security, he reiterated his administration’s zero tolerance for criminality, citing the recent passage of a bill introducing stiffer penalties including the death sentence for kidnapping and related crimes.
The Governor also cautioned family members and associates of the new commissioners against applying pressure for personal benefits, warning that such interference could hinder effective service delivery.
Earlier, Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Taiwo Fasoranti, hailed the appointments as strategic and inclusive, reflecting the Governor’s commitment to good governance and meritocracy.
Responding on behalf of his colleagues, Commissioner Omoyofunmi Segun thanked the Governor for the opportunity to serve, promising to deliver diligently in line with the administration’s goals.
Among dignitaries present were Deputy Governor Dr. Olayide Adelami, the Governor’s wife, Mrs. Esther Aiyedatiwa, Speaker of the State Assembly, Rt. Hon. Olamide Oladiji, Chief Judge Justice Olusegun Odusola, APC State Chairman Engr. Ade Adetimehin, lawmakers, and other top government functionaries.
