Air Strikes Kill Over 30 Terrorists Gathered for Wedding in Zamfara

No fewer than 30 terrorists were reportedly killed when Nigerian Air Force jets bombarded a location in Zamfara State where the criminals had gathered for a wedding ceremony.

The airstrikes, carried out on Sunday, August 4, 2025, targeted the foot of Asola Hills in Yankuzo ward of Tsafe Local Government Area. Intelligence sources revealed that the terrorists had converged from different camps across Zamfara and neighbouring Katsina State to celebrate the wedding of one of their members.

According to Captain David Adewusi, spokesperson for the Air Component of Operation Fagge San Yamma (OPFY), the operation followed credible intelligence and surveillance that monitored the movements and convergence of the terrorists.

“The precision airstrikes led to the neutralization of over 30 heavily armed terrorists and left many others wounded,” Adewusi stated.

He added that following the bombardment, troops of 1 Brigade under Sector 2 of OPFY advanced on foot to the area but came under ambush. However, they successfully repelled the attack and continued clearance operations in the vicinity.

Ground sources and community residents confirmed the recovery of several bodies and reported that wounded fighters were being evacuated by their comrades to nearby hideouts.

Residents of Tsafe and surrounding villages hailed the military operation, describing it as a major relief from the persistent attacks and kidnappings perpetrated by the terrorists in the region.

Military authorities assured that Operation Fagge San Yamma will intensify efforts to rid Zamfara and other parts of the North-West of criminal elements, while urging residents to continue providing timely intelligence to security forces.
