The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Command in Ondo has issued a stern warning to convoy drivers, stressing the grave risks associated with speeding to curb accidents within the state.

Ezekiel SonAllah, the FRSC sector commander in Ondo, reiterated this crucial message during a dialogue with journalists on Saturday in Akure, the capital city of the state.

This cautionary follows a recent incident involving a commercial Toyota Bus with the registration number FNN612AA and a Toyota Hilux, for which the number plate information was not disclosed.

“Eleven people were injured in the crash which occurred at 3:55 p.m. on Saturday in Ajue along the Ore/Ondo route, while two female adults were saved by their seat belt.

“A total of fifteen persons were involved in the accident. Eight male adults and three female adults were injured and taken to the hospital.

“The injured victims were taken to the Ondo State Trauma and Surgical Centre, Ondo, before the arrival of the FRSC rescue team.

The sector commander said the FRSC rescue team took the remaining injured victims to the General Hospital, Ore.

He said the two crashed vehicles were handed over to the Motor Traffic Division, MTD, of the Nigerian Police at Ajue.

“So, convoy drivers should be extremely careful when driving and avoid speeding.

“Drivers need to remember that excess speed kills and that it is a must for motorists to obey traffic rules and regulations on the road,” SonAllah said.
