Tofomowo said the aged-long excruciating darkness being experienced by residents in the zone had subjected the people to untold hardships and collapsed economic activities which made it difficult for them to compete favourably with the people of other parts of the state.

He made the pledge in a statement issued by his Campaign Organisation Director of Media and Publicity, Mr Olumide Akinrinrinlola, on Wednesday in Okitipupa.

“The power outages have affected the living standard of the people, economic activities and subjected our people to untold hardships because of the uncaring attitude of some powers that be.

“If voted in the 2019 elections, I will give priority to the lingering electricity problem and other important issues which will help to liberate the people of Ondo South,” he said.

Otunba Tofomowo, a two-time Commissioner of Transportation in the state, also unveiled his agenda tagged: “STREP”: Security, Transportation, Resources, Employment, and Power (Electricity) which according to him, will help to alleviate the suffering of the people.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Ondo South comprises six local government areas: Okitipupa, Irele, Odigbo, Ilaje, Ese-Odo and Ile Oluji/Oke Igbo.
