The Kano State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has successfully prosecuted 12 individuals for drug trafficking offences.
Each of the offenders was handed a three-year prison sentence, signifying a decisive action against illicit drug activities in the state.
Among those convicted was Lawan Sani, who received an additional two-year sentence for assaulting an NDLEA officer during a 10-month manhunt, bringing his total sentence to five years.
The arrests and convictions were linked to drug operations in the infamous Filin Idi area, a well-known hub for trafficking activities.
Speaking on the development, Commander Abubakar Ahmad of the NDLEA reiterated the agency’s commitment to combating drug-related crimes and called on residents to report suspicious activities.
The agency also emphasised its ongoing efforts to reduce substance abuse and enhance public safety across Kano State.
