The PDP House of Assembly Candidate for Ondo West Constituency II in the last general election, Hon. Oladapo Abiola is set to embark on another round of Empowerment Programme for his constituents with over 300 people penned as beneficiaries.

The Empowerment will cut across various groups, ranging from Artisans, Farmers, Trader Unions and the less privileged.

All the intending beneficiaries had already indicated the areas where they need empowerment through empowerment forms freely given to them to be filled which also serve as a means of collating their data.

Oladapo, in interview with our correspondent, said some of the beneficiaries will receive interest free loans, farm equipments, and other empowerment materials depending on what individuals requested in their forms.

“I joined politics with the aim to help people and reduce poverty in our society. Since I came back from abroad to Ondo City to start my political career through the PDP, I have been helping the people in my constituency through various means of empowerment programmes.

“I have helped lot of people because I am not too happy with the level of poverty in the country. Many students are dropping out of schools because their parents cannot afford tuition fees and that’s why I started a scholarship programme for university students to help those who are willing to further their education among my constituents.

“Some vocational equipments were provided recently to help those into skilled acquisition and some people who graduated from vocational training within my constituency.

“Some people were initially thinking I was doing all these things because I wanted to contest election but they were wrong and by now, they should know they were wrong, because after I was robbed of my victory by the the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in conjunction with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the last election, you will recall I had done lot of empowerments for my people thereafter.

“It was after the election, I provided borehole for the people of Egunshin town in Ondo west Local government of Ondo State who were not having access to drinkable water; and as you can see, over 300 peoples from my constituency are set to benefit from various kinds of empowerments which I am embarking upon through my foundation — Abiola Oladapo Foundation.

“So, it is not about politics. It is about my passion to help people and reduce poverty. I hate poverty and I feel very uncomfortable when my neighbour find it very difficult to earn a living. My passion is not politically motivated. I am only joining politics to make it more easier for me to help people because joining politics is the only means anyone could be in government position to provide basic amenities and needed infrastructures that could ease the suffering of the masses,”he said.

Oladapo, who recently lost the house of assembly election conducted on March 9, 2019, by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC),  is presently in court at the Ondo State Election Petition Tribunal to challenge the declaration of the candidate of the ruling APC as winner of the house of assembly election in Ondo West Constituency II.
