In the past few weeks, the All Progressives Congress (APC) suffered a great loss as some of its members, ranging from governors, senators, house of representatives’ members, state lawmakers, local government chairmen and some party chieftains resigned their membership of the party and defected to the Opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)

The last of its kind were the defection of the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, Ambassador Ahmed Ibeto and the Kwara State governor, Alhaji Abdulfattah Ahmed, who joined the array of defectors yesterday to bid farewell to the ruling party (APC) by moving to the PDP.

Investigation by starnews has revealed that the storm of defection that is blowing in the camp of the ruling APC in favour of the opposition PDP is not yet over as it was gathered that more governors, Federal lawmakers, party chieftains and even some cabinet members of President Muhammadu Buhari led administration who are members of the ruling APC, will soon defect to the PDP as many of them are presently in talks with the PDP and this was confirmed to Starnews by a member of the PDP National Working committee.

Some of these people include:

* Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State:

Governor Tanbuwal is expected to dump the ruling APC before the end of this week as all arrangements have been perfected to quit the party and join the PDP .

It was learnt that governor Tanbuwal promise to  leave the APC with 24 members of the state’s House of Assembly and all the 23 local government chairmen in the state.

The remaining six members of the state assembly are said to be loyal to a former governor of the state, Senator Aliyu Wamakko according to New Telegraph.

Governor Bindo Jibrilla of Adamawa State:

Following the presidential declaration of the former vice president of Nigeria, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, to contest for the presidential election  under PDP in 2019, many state commissioners and cabinet members of the Adamawa State government have defected to the PDP from the ruling APC in solidarity and loyalty to Atiku.

It was learnt that the state governor, Mr Bindo, will soon follow suit by joining Atiku to the PDP in the next few weeks. One of the aides of the former vice president who pleaded anonymity confided in our correspondent.

This was also confirmed by Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike, who gave the hint yesterday while welcoming Saraki and Ahmed to the PDP. Governor Wike confidently said that : “More governors and senior politicians will still defect in the coming days.

Apart from some state governors who were confirmed to be set to join the PDP in few weeks, it was also gathered from one of the aides of the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, that arrangement have been perfected with all the 3 senators in kwara state and members of the house of representatives to join the PDP which was said to be the courtesy of Mr Saraki and the kwara state governors.

It was also learnt that the National Publicity Secretary of the ruling APC, Bolaji Abdullahi, is among chieftains of the ruling APC who are currently in pipeline being expected to be recieved into the opposition PDP.

More Senators loyal to Mr Saraki were also said to be ready to join the PDP in the next few weeks.

In the house of representatives, it was confirmed through a lawmaker close to the speaker that the Speaker of the House, Hon. Yakubu Dogara, is tactically out of the ruling APC and will soon announce his defection alongside some honourable members loyal to him from the APC to the PDP.

In President Buhari’s cabinet, Starnews gathered that some cabinet members who are loyal to Atiku and some of them who are not comfortable with the poor management of the spate of killings in their respective states by the Buhari’s administration, have also perfected arrangements to quit the ruling APC  for PDP.

Just yesterday, it was learnt that former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Ibrahim Babagida, T. Y Danjuma, Senator Bukola Saraki and some prominent personalities in Nigeria were in closed door meeting for several hours in Abuja.

The outcome of the meeting is not yet known as at the time of filing this report but starnews gathered that it was all about 2019 general election on how to oust President Muhammadu Buhari from office.

I’m not sure exactly why but this web site is loading incredibly slow for me. Is anyone else having this issue or is it a issue on my end? I’ll check back later on and see if the problem still exists.
