The Zamfara State Rescue Movement (ZSRM), a civil society group, has refuted allegations by the All Progressives Congress (APC) that the implementation of the N70,000 minimum wage in the state is a political maneuver to strengthen Governor Dauda Lawal’s influence.
In a statement released on Sunday, ZSRM Coordinator Lawal Idris criticized the APC’s position, calling it a deliberate attempt to distort facts.
He stressed that Governor Lawal remains committed to the state’s progress, highlighting his efforts in revitalizing the economy and restoring Zamfara’s dignity.
“Describing the implementation of the N70,000 minimum wage as deceitful is an intentional misrepresentation of Governor Lawal’s commitment to improving Zamfara. He assumed office at a difficult time and has worked diligently to address the state’s challenges,” the statement read.
The group also noted that Governor Lawal is the first to successfully implement the new minimum wage in Zamfara, a policy the previous administration failed to enforce.
Expressing full confidence in the governor’s leadership, ZSRM stated that “there is no vacancy in the government house in 2027,” reaffirming its support for his administration.
